To coincide with the opening of our brand new incubator facility this week, we’re excited to announce our cohort of strategic partners for 2022. By Dr Aby Sankaran, Head of Innovation & Partnerships.
If you’d have asked me 10 years ago, I would never have said I’d be doing this kind of role. Back then, I had just finished my degree in electrical engineering and started working on my PhD looking at integrating marine renewables into the nation’s energy network. Now I work in a very different kind of network; the one within the Science Creates ecosystem, that provides pioneering deep tech start-ups with the support they need to flourish.
Since joining Science Creates earlier this year, I have been meeting fascinating people from a myriad of companies, weaving together their expertise into a network of strategic partners. From legal specialists, to guardians of intellectual property, these teams are joining our ecosystem to share their skills and give members the specific and relevant advice they need to thrive.
Today, I am thrilled to announce the brilliant experts that are joining the Science Creates Network for 2022:
Two internationally reputed law firms, with dedicated teams working across life sciences, pharmaceuticals and technology. Taylor Wessing and VWV will assist with legal matters such as venture capital funding, acquisitions and mergers.
HGF, Withers & Rogers, Abel & Imray
Leading Intellectual Property specialists that will help you prepare and safeguard your deep tech innovations and enforce when it needs legal protection. These firms cover sectors such as advanced engineering, computing, physics, life sciences & chemistry.
Corrigan, Love Your Accountants
Corrigan and Love Your Accountants provide bespoke accountancy support for start-ups and technical businesses. Whether it’s migrating your accounts to cloud-based software or preparing for an exit, these teams will have you covered with the specific advice you need.
Bristol-based Hayes Parsons specialise in insurance and risk management in the technology and communication sectors. They are often the go-to insurance broker for many of the South-West’s leading tech hubs.
Grant Tree’s team of technology and financial experts will connect you with the right funding opportunities, expertly guide you with grant writing and make sure you’re claiming every penny possible for your deep tech business.
Help your team be the best they can be and recruit top talent, with expert guidance from Green Jay HR.
Make a splash with your deep tech innovation with help from Transatlantic PR and communications agency. The team will offer expert advice on positioning, messaging and garnering press attention.
If you’re a member of the Science Creates community, all these firms are available to help you with any questions you need to answer or hurdles you need to overcome, no matter what stage of your business’s journey.
We’ll be cataloguing them thematically so if you need an IP specialist, for example, you’ll know exactly where to look. Knowledge transfer and advice exchange can take many forms – our strategic partners will be part of a mixture of events across both the Science Creates St Philips and Old Market incubators. These will range from workshops and surgery sessions to fire-side chats and bookable 1-to-1’s.
And, it’s not just our strategic service providers who are part of our ecosystem – it’s all of our deep tech member companies too. We have over 40 CEOs within our network, all of which/whom have years of experience and have beaten the odds to forge successful deep tech start-ups. In my role, and with the latest additions to the network, we strive to create a hive of knowledge and shared experiences that all our members can access.
I love that I get to be a part of each member company’s journey, helping connect them with the right specialists, and living vicariously through their research. For all our member companies present and future, there will be ups, downs and bumps in the road, but you’re on the right track and our network is here for you.
We’re so lucky to have such forward-thinking partners that share in our vision and believe that what we have here in Bristol is special. We’re incredibly grateful to this motivated and talented network – welcome to Science Creates!
We’ll be getting to know our new partner organisations from January 2022. Revisit the Science Creates blog in the new year for introductions, or follow us on Twitter or LinkedIn for the latest updates.
