Accelerating ideas, solving global challenges and driving impact – Science Creates in 2023

Founded in 2015 with the vision of helping scientists turn their discoveries into inventions that help solve the world’s biggest challenges, the Science Creates  ecosystem now comprises two state-of-the-art deep-tech incubators which 41 start-ups call home, a venture capital fund, SCVC, investing in game-changing companies, and a STEM outreach charity inspiring the next generation of scientists – Science Creates Outreach.

We are incredibly pleased with the results of this year’s Economic Impact Assessment as the figures indicate the substantial growth of our ecosystem and progress of our members – among many other key statistics and findings, the Science Creates ecosystem just surpassed a gross GVA of £125m per annum to the UK plc and currently employs 370 people across the UK. However, the report mainly relates to direct economic impact.

Technology and innovation are society’s most important tools to bring about improvements. The jobs created have been filled with progressive thinkers that want to bring about change on a global scale and develop advanced technologies and therapies that have the potential to save millions of lives and tonnes of CO2. They are of extreme importance to the health of people and our planet. That is the real impact we care about and it far outstrips the direct economic benefits.
